As it enters the twenty-first century, the Detroit Kennel Club finds itself faced with exciting new opportunities. While we continue to strive to maintain the history and tradition that is an integral part of the DKC, we also are working to evolve into a leader in purebred dog education, not only in Michigan, but throughout the entire dog show community. While the DKC has throughout its long history strived to put on an extraordinary dog show that is rewarding for exhibitors and spectators alike, we understand that perhaps our most important function is to educate the public about the sport of purebred dogs. And we believe we are uniquely equipped to do so.

The Detroit Kennel Club is composed of just ten hardworking individuals, who each bring exceptional experience and expertise to the organization. Among us are those whose families have a long association with the sport of purebred dogs, and who contribute an incredible wealth of information and knowledge. The DKC also includes members newer to the fancy, who add a fresh and modern perspective combined with a profound respect for the great tradition of the Detroit Kennel Club. Included in club membership are judges, breeders and handlers, as well as those active in business, education, science and the arts. Together, this diverse group of individuals shares one common goal, and that is to make the DKC benched shows the very best American Kennel Club dog show in the country.

To achieve this goal, the DKC remains always open to input from exhibitors and spectators alike, and welcomes your comments and suggestions. To do so, simply contact DKC President Erik Bergishagen.
