The Detroit Kennel Club Dog Shows
Now in the ninety-fourth year, the Detroit Kennel Club Dog Shows are one of only five "benched" shows left in the United States. The benched format welcomes show visitors, allowing access to over 160 breeds of American Kennel Club registered purebred dogs, their breeders, owners and handlers. When the dogs are not in the ring being judged, they are required to stay on six-inch risers (benches) and are grouped according to breed. Annually, thousands of visitors attend the two-day show.
Who attends these shows?
Dog lovers of all ages who make a visit to the dog shows a tradition
People searching for reputable breeders
Families out for a day of fun
Individuals who are researching what kind of dog is best for them
The shows are presented by the Detroit Kennel Club, a small group of individuals who have been active in the professional sport of purebred dogs for many years and are dedicated to educating the public about the sport of dogs, the role of the purebred dog in everyday life and the importance of getting dogs and puppies from reputable sources.
More than just a "dog show," the DKC offers visitors a day full of fun for the whole family. The 600,000 square foot Cobo Center is alive with canine demonstrations featuring search and rescue, obedience training demonstrations, field work and retrieving, duck herding demos, terrier racing, Leader Dogs for the Blind, canine first aid seminar, breeder lectures, American Kennel Club Rally Trials, flyball, pet therapy program and much, much more. The Detroit Kennel Club dog shows, long a Detroit tradition, have truly become an annual "Celebration of Dogs."

Sponsors
Sponsors are an integral and important part of the Detroit Kennel Club benched dog shows. Purina is the major sponsor of the Detroit Kennel Club and is actively involved in the show. The folks at Purina provide canine seminars for the breeders, and interact with the public to answer questions about canine health, nutrition, and pet responsibility. The DKC greatly appreciates the significant role Purina plays in the success of the annual Detroit Kennel Club dog shows.
The DKC is greatly indebted to the support of its sponsors. The Detroit Kennel Club offers a special thanks to each of them in helping to make the DKC shows such a tremendous success:

Vendor Information
With close to 60,000 spectators and 2000 exhibitors, the Detroit Kennel Club benched dog shows are a wonderful venue in which to display your wares. Whether you have dog supplies or equipment for serious fanciers, or items for the pet owning public, your booth will be busy with customers all day and each day. There are a wide variety of booth sizes from which you may choose, from 5' x 12' to 45' x 5.' And if you submit a signed contract before January 13, 2010, the savings for booth space are substantial.
The Detroit Kennel Club dog shows are held at Cobo Convention Center in downtown Detroit, Michigan, which is a great arena for such an event. The building is climate controlled, and the 600,000 square foot exhibition hall allows plenty of room for the tens of thousands that make their way into Cobo each day. Loading and unloading in the hall is very simple, as you can drive into the building for set up Friday evening. On Sunday afternoon after Best in Show, you can once again drive in to load up and depart.
If you have questions about the possibility of renting booth space at the 2011 Detroit Kennel Club Dog Shows, or would like more information, contact Richard Ford. He will be happy to answer your questions, address your concerns, and send you a contract.
