In our serious commitment to purebred dog education, the Detroit Kennel Club instituted "Meet the Breed" Seminars in 2003, which were met with overwhelming enthusiasm and support. Throughout each day of the show, four or five breed experts present a 45 minute seminar on their respective breeds. Representative dogs are usually present, and the breeders reserve the last 15 minutes to answer any questions those interested in the breed may have. This year, the Detroit Kennel Club will offer two additional seminars each day. "An Introduction to Dog Shows" will be presented at 10AM, and at 1PM, "A Guide for Buying a Purebred Puppy" will be presented. These seminars have received a great response, and many are "standing room only."
The breeds that will be presented in 2010 are the Berger Picard, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Scottish Deerhound, Bullmastiff, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Border Collie, German Shorthair Pointer, and Bichon Frise. The schedule for Saturday, March 6 & Sunday, March 7, 2010 is as follows:
